Joe is a SUNY Brockport graduate with a bachelor’s degree in English. He then went on to attend law school at Indiana University in Indianapolis. When he returned home, Joe spent over a year as an intern at the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office. Growing dissatisfied for that line of work, he made the switch to defending the indigent at the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office. There, he handled a myriad of cases at the violation, misdemeanor, and felony level. He started off in the Town Court section of Local Courts, handling violations and misdemeanors. His duties included legal research, advising clients of their Constitutional rights, and representing clients in conferences, hearings, and trials.
He was then promoted to the City Court section of Local Courts. He was initially assigned to the Honorable Melissa Barrett. He also spent time assigned to the Honorable Teresa Johnson and the Honorable LaToya Lee. From there, he was promoted to begin handling felony matters.
After three years as an Assistant Public Defender in Monroe County, he joined Tom Anelli & Associates, handling DWI cases in the Greater Rochester Area. When he is not fighting for clients in court, he spends most of his free time on his yard or watching football.
