Emmett grew up on a horse farm in the Saratoga Springs area and has strong family roots in the Capital District. His educational journey began when he was selected to participate in an advanced degree Pre-Law program at the College of Saint Rose. He graduated in three years with cum laude recognition and Delta Epsilon Iota Honors and received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Emmett then went on to receive his law degree at Albany Law School in 2018. During his academic career, Emmett earned several prestigious awards, including the Saratoga County Bar Association Award, Albany Law Public Interest Gold Pro Bono Award, a Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship, and an Equality and Justice Scholarship.
Before joining Tom Anelli & Associates, Emmett served as an Albany County Assistant District Attorney. In this role, he prosecuted cases of all types in local courts, county courts, and various alternative treatment courts, including Mental Health Court, Drug Court, Integrated Domestic Violence Court, and Veterans Court. Notably, he was assigned to prosecute in Albany County’s DWI Part, a court experience that fostered his professional growth and development in the field of DWIs specifically. His extensive training includes NYTPI Prosecutor Basic Training, and participation in multiple National Association of Drug Court Professionals RISE Conferences (Tennessee 2022, Texas 2023, California 2024).
