Sam comes to us by way of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office where she served as an Assistant District Attorney. During her tenure with the office, Sam was responsible for prosecuting crimes in several courts in and throughout the Rochester area. As an ADA, Sam has tried many cases to jury verdict, and conducted countless bench trials and hearings.
Prior to her tenure with the Monroe County DA’s office, Sam served as an Assistant Public Defender with the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office, where she had the defended hundreds of clients charged with crimes ranging from violation level offenses to non-violent felony matters. Sam has also served as a felony level Assistant Public Defender with the Albany County Office of the Public Defender, where she was responsible for the representation of clients charged with violations of their parole as well as matter pending in county and local courts. Sam began her career at the Wayne County Public Defender’s office, where she served as a local court attorney, handling all matters from arraignment to indictment. As a consequence of the above Sam bring a vast array of both criminal defense and prosecutorial experience to our office.
Sam graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, in New York City, where she was awarded a three-year public interest merit scholarship, and was also named a Berg Fellow, supporting her internship with the Kentucky Department Of Public Advocacy Post Capital Conviction Unit. After law school, Sam served as a Chambers Attorney to the Hon. Tandra Dawson in New York County Integrated Domestic Violence Part, where she drafted decisions pending under the Court’s criminal docket.
